Asset Management CEO & Fund Manager
He started his career at Greenwich Securities in London in 1998 as part of the derivatives team. During his time in London he was exposed to a variety of global markets and asset classes and also became a member of the OTOB (European Derivative Exchange). In 2000 he joined Greenwich Asset Management in Cape Town as an investment analyst and a member of the investment team that later became part of NIB. JC joined PLJ Financial Services in 2001 as a private client portfolio manager until 2003.
He was one of the founding members of Contego and currently heads up the Asset Management division. He has gained a reputation for his focused fund management style combining the use of fundamental and quantitative analysis.
JC completed a B.Comm degree as well as his MBA (Cum Laude) at Stellenbosch University .

Schalk Louw
Group Chief Executive & Strategist
As one of the founding members of Contego and with nearly 20 years’ experience in the investment industry, Schalk has consistently delivered solid returns to his clients and has become one of South Africa’s well-known strategists. He started in 1994 at the stockbroking company, Huysamer Stals (later ABN Amro). He joined SMK Securities in 1997, (later became BoE Personal Stockbrokers) and was later appointed as director and branch manager. In 2001 he joined PLJ Financial Services, where he was involved in general management nationally and in charge of the strategic focus of the business.
Schalk has also become a regular household name with investors, with his reports being published in many of the national press. He completed his MBA in 2008.

Kobus Louw
Chief Investment Officer & Fund Manager
Kobus Louw hails from Port Elizabeth where he completed his B.Sc Hons degree. He started in the actuarial division at Sanlam and then moved to the investment department. Beside a two year stint at Unicorn Lines in Durban in 1979-80, he first setup and managed an investment information systems department at Sanlam and then moved to portfolio management, becoming head of portfolio management at Sanlam Investment Management in 1998. He completed his MBA degree at Stellenbosch in 1988.
Kobus joined Cadiz in 1999 where he was one of the founding members when they listed the company. He was in charge of new product development initiatives as well as the refocusing of the active management team's efforts. Kobus resigned at Cadiz Asset Management as Director anhief Investment Officer at the end of 2004.
Kobus with his wealth of experience and knowledge will focus on the investment and protection processes at Contego Asset Management as wll as the development of new innovative offerings for retail and institutions.

Glaxton Robinson
Business Development Manager
Glaxton joined Contego in February 2010 and is tasked with the establishment and improvement of relationships between clients and our services. His responsibilities include the enhancement and maintenance of our relationship management function and the introduction of our retail offerings to clients in the Western Cape / Boland regions. Glaxton completed his B.Comm degree in Investment Management before completing his Honours degree in Financial Analysis at the University of Stellenbosch. He is currently a CFA candidate.

Johan Burger
Quantitative Analyst
Johan joined Contego in January 2011 and part of the Asset Management team. He completed a B.Com degree in Mathematical Sciences before completing his Honours degree in Financial Risk Management at the University of Stellenbosch. He is currently a CFA candidate.
